    Precision Engineering in Western Sydney

McIver Engineering has been machining in Sydney since 1947 and now works from Smithfield, close to the geographic centre of the Western Sydney manufacturing belt. From here Parramatta, Liverpool, Blacktown, Bankstown and the M4 and M7 corridors are all comfortably inside a half hour run, and Penrith and the Aerotropolis sit at the far edge of the same catchment.

A single supplier across the region

CNC turning and milling to within 0.01 mm on critical features
Fiber laser cutting, folding and sheet metal fabrication
Structural and stainless welding by certified tradespeople
Prototyping and low volume production for local product developers
Reverse engineering and obsolete part replacement
One shop for machining and fabrication, so parts are not chased across suppliers

One region, several very different manufacturing clusters

Western Sydney is not one market. The Smithfield, Wetherill Park and Prestons estates carry heavy process and building products work. Silverwater, Rydalmere and Camellia hold older precision and instrument makers. Blacktown, Seven Hills and Arndell Park lean towards transport, plant hire and distribution. Around Liverpool and Ingleburn there is defence supply chain, medical device and electronics assembly work, and the Aerotropolis corridor near Badgerys Creek is drawing in aerospace and advanced manufacturing.

Each of those clusters asks us for something different. Process plants need wear parts, shafts, liners and guarding. Instrument and device makers need small precision components in stainless and aluminium with real inspection behind them. Transport and plant businesses need repair machining and structural fabrication. Product developers need a first article they can test before committing to tooling.

What we hold constant is the way the work is run: engineering review of your drawings before machining, in-house inspection, material traceability where you need certificates, and no minimum order quantity, so a prototype and a production batch come from the same people.

For customers further out, we quote, dispatch and freight across the region as a matter of course, and for anyone inside the inner ring the workshop is close enough to visit. Send drawings to info@mciverengineering.com or call (02) 9436 2820 to talk the job through.
