McIver Engineering operates from a workshop in Smithfield, with work delivered and collected across Western Sydney and greater Sydney and down to Wollongong. Our customers include businesses in Eastern Creek, Seven Hills and Castle Hill, as well as Prestons, Macquarie Park and Wetherill Park. We also work with customers in Parramatta and Mascot, and further south in Smeaton Grange.

Our CNC machining includes milling on three and four axis platforms and turning for shafts, bushes and complex round parts. We machine prototypes, small batches and ongoing production work.

Our laser cutting and metal fabrication cover steel, stainless steel and aluminium. Press brake folding and forming are combined with TIG and MIG welding, so cut parts can be formed and welded as part of the job.
A sketch, a photo, a sample or a description is enough to start. Design is done in house at our Smithfield workshop and design work is quoted as a separate one off fee.
Up to about five parts take two to three weeks, whether made in Smithfield or sourced overseas, unless the parts are very large. Fifty to one hundred parts take four to six weeks. Five hundred or more take six to seven weeks. For overseas orders of a hundred or more, sea freight lowers the cost and adds about four weeks. Quantities between those bands are quoted individually. Every quote confirms the lead time.

Material, quantity, complexity, setup, finish and tolerance affect the cost of a machined part. Small quantities cost more per part because setup is spread over fewer pieces. Complex geometry, tighter tolerances and additional finishing increase the work involved, while flexibility on material or finish can reduce the cost.
