Flat or folded, and what that means for the price
A flat bracket is the cheapest part we make. Upload a clean DXF to the instant laser cutting quote, choose the material and thickness, set the quantity and you have a price and a nest preview in seconds, with deburring included and a two to three week lead time, or one week with express. Mild steel is priced online from 1 mm to 16 mm, stainless and aluminium up to 8 mm.
A folded bracket adds a press brake setup and a fold per bend. Our own press brake folds sheet up to 2 mm thick and 1.5 m long, and heavier or longer folds go to a press brake subcontractor we have used for years, managed by us under the same purchase order. Folded brackets are quoted manually, usually within 24 hours, from a DXF or STEP file.
Quantity moves the unit price more than anything else, because setting up the laser and the press brake costs the same for one bracket as for fifty. The worked examples on our laser cutting prices page show a 3 mm bracket blank falling from the $180 minimum at one off to about $5 each at fifty.

Materials and finishes for brackets
Mild steel is the default for brackets that are painted or powder coated, galvanised or zinc anneal sheet where a coating is wanted straight off the machine, 304 stainless for general wash down and 316 where chlorides or wash down chemicals are involved. 5005 and 5052 aluminium suit brackets that are folded; 5083 is chosen where the bracket is welded and loaded.
Every laser cut edge is deburred. Some industrial painting is done in house; powder coating, galvanising and anodising are arranged with finishers we have used for years and stay on the same purchase order. Mill certificates are supplied on request where traceability matters.

Can you price a folded bracket online?
Not yet. Bend lines make a file manual. Send the DXF or STEP file through the quote form and a folded bracket is usually quoted within 24 hours.
What thickness can a bracket be?
Laser cut mild steel from 1 mm to 16 mm, stainless and aluminium up to 8 mm. Our own press brake folds up to 2 mm; thicker folds go to our press brake subcontractor and are managed as part of the same job.
Do you have a minimum quantity?
No. One off brackets are everyday work. Small quantities cost more per part because the setup is spread over fewer pieces, and the quote shows that.
Can you add threads or captive nuts?
Yes. Holes can be tapped and captive nuts or bosses welded on after cutting. Note it on the drawing or in the enquiry so it is priced from the start.
